Florence Fletcher worked at cutlers A & H Bisby in Portobello Place in Sheffield, first as a buffers errand girl and later as a mirror finisher. Her family lived in the Shalesmoor area of the city. She was the daughter of an Italian family who made and sold ice cream. Like Catherine Scally they lived near to the catholic church.
